Phantom of the Opera- Act 1

We have recently started to read the play version of the Phantom of the Opera.

In Act 1: There is a girl named Christine who is taught how to sing by her “angel of music.” Her tutor is actually the Phantom who hides his “ugliness” behind a mask. He stays under the opera house in the dark.

When Raoul sees Christine sing, he immediately falls in love with her. This makes the Phantom jealous. He kills the stagehand because what he wanted wasn’t getting carried out. At the end of act 1, the chandelier falls at Christine’s feet, and the Phantom vanishes.

I like to listen to the songs, one of my favorites is the Masquerade one. This story has a lot of depth to it and I can’t wait until we watch the movie after STAAR testing.

Pep Rallies

The sound of feet pounding against the bleachers, the sight of a
human wave forming across the room, the band playing blaring
music, the thrill of what’s going to happen next. I love pep rallies
and here’s a few reasons why!

First, you get to skip class which means no extra work. On a
normal day, classes are about fifty minutes long and full of
class work. But, on pep rally days, classes are cut shorter.
Math class is only thirty five minutes long. Who enjoys
doing boring math work, anyways?

Second, pep rallies are fun overall! I like to sit with my friends,
watch the cheerleaders, and get loud! Everyone is always cheering
and screaming at the top of their lungs. Nothing can be more exciting
than watching students and teachers compete and the cheerleaders’
new dance. Everything about pep rallies is enjoyable.

In conclusion, pep rallies can be a thrilling time of enjoyment. I love
pep rallies and everything about them!

Snow Day in January

I wake up at 7 in the morning and immediately check to see if I have to go to school today. I find out that school is cancelled and climb back into bed. Then I remember that there was a chance of snow today. I open up my window blinds and see a layer of white covering the ground. It’s snowing!!!!!!

It hasn’t snowed ever since like fourth grade which was about three years ago! As excited as I was, I try to wake up my sister, but she says she’s too sleepy. Then I try waking up my brothers and they immediately look out the windows and find that I’m not lying. We all grab our coats, hats and scarves. I slip on my boots and without permission, I turn off the alarm and we all head outside.

I have to say, I was pretty disappointed. There was barely any snow! Most of it was just ice and there wasn’t a lot on the ground. My brothers found more snow on the top of the cars and used that to have a snowball fight, which didn’t really work. My hands were starting to freeze in the cold weather, because I couldn’t find my gloves, so I went back inside.

I came outside later, before all the ice could melt. I brought my baby sister out and made sure she was wearing a coat and a sweater underneath. This was her first “snow day.” I didn’t let her walk on the ground, though, because I had already slipped twice, and she probably would also.

Even though there was mostly ice, we still took a lot of pictures, because who knows when we’ll have another snow day!!!

Super Bowl

The Super Bowl match wasn’t as exciting as least year: It was really obvious who
was going to win. I wasn’t really going for any team in particular: I’m not
a fan of either the Broncos or Seahawks.

Last year I was going for the Ravens, and they won.I only got to see the last quarter
because I had to finish up my homework when the game started.

I think the halftime show was ok but I didn’t get to see all of it. And there were
no exciting commercials.
